As a young boy, he was a rebellious child, Benito was swayed by his father’s view of the Catholic Church, and ejected from school due to his bad behavior and attitude towards the monks who ran the school. He moved to Switzerland in 1902 where he became involved in Italian socialism, getting banished in 1903 for suggesting a general strike. He spent the next few years moving between Italy and neighboring countries, returning to the southern party of Italy, where he became secretary of the local socialist party and “editor of the socialist newspaper "The Class Struggle" (La Lotta di Classe).” Mussolini was arrested and sent to prison, for leading demonstrations against the Italians attacking Libya in 1911 in North Africa. He was selected to be editor of "Avanti" (Forward) the socialist. He started out as impassioned Socialist in his youth, and became a staunch Nationalist after World War I. Within each stage of his life, Benito Mussolini was defiant of authority, and antagonized opponents with his rebellious nature. His socialist upbringing and military service in the First World War contributed to his rise in the Nationalist party. He was credited with creating Italy’s Fascist Party in 1919. Once dictator, he popularized himself by reducing unemployment. To show his regimes strength, he invaded smaller nations with success. Mussolini during WWII By 1939 he signed a military alliance with Germany, which Mussolini relied on when he overreached his military strength on a number of occasions. Following in Adolf Hitler’s footsteps, Mussolini discriminated against Jews in Italy. He also, made several attempts at the neighboring nations and most of the time he relied on his alliance with Hitler to pull through his battles. Had it not been for his relationship with the Nazi Germany who would have not been able to achieve as much as he did. He was executed in 1945, by the people of Italy, and bodies was hung on display in a Milan plaza.
