The Nazi rationale was heavily invested in the militarist belief that great nations grow from military power, which in turn grows "naturally" from "rational, civilized cultures."
"It is part of a great leader’s genius to make even widely separated adversaries appear as if they belonged to but one category, because among weakly and undecided characters the recognition of various enemies all too easily marks the beginning of doubt of one’s own rightness." ~ Adolf Hitler

National Socialism in Germany was a dictatorship. The origins can be traced to Frederick William I (1688–1740), Frederick the Great (1712–68), and Otto von Bismarck (1815–98). It shared many elements with Italian fascism, but Nazism was far more extreme both in its concepts and in its practices. After Germanys defeat in World War I the Treaty of Versailles (1919), angered the German people due to its harsh reparations. The resentment expressed toward the peace treaty gave rise to National Socialism. The idea was that Germanic people were of Aryan blood, and keeping the bloodline pure was vital to the survival of the German race. The Nazi Party originated in 1919 and came to power in Germany in 1933. The Nazi party governed through totalitarian methods until 1945. It attempted to merge ideologies of conservative nationalist with a socially radical doctrine. The blind obedience to the dictatorial leader, was the sole source of inspiration. This leader intimidated and dealt harshly with any opposition to party. Nazism "figured solely as an expedient intended to improve the Germanic race genetically and to protect it against racial interbreeding which according to the National Socialists, always entails the doctrine of the higher race."
